Day 3 → Something you have to forgive yourself for

Day 3.

Day 3....

Hmmmmmmmmm.

Something I have to forgive myself for.
I honestly have no idea.

I'm not the sort of person that looks back at something and thinks, "I need to forgive myself for that".  At least I don't think I am.....

I've never had to do it.

Even pushing myself to answer this I'm not coming up with anything.

This shit is hard yo.

What can you forgive yourself for?  Getting Fat?  Eating that last piece of cake that you know you really shouldn't have but wanted to anyway because it was so nice and moist and chocolatey?  Dating that guy who turned out to stalk you after putting you into shitloads of debt?  Not listening to your doctor because you are stubborn?  Saying something to someone that you shouldn't have?  Allowing your gaurd down and being a friend to someone only for them to betray you?  Buying those shoes you knew you couldn't afford?  Being judgemental even though you know you have no right to be?

Hmmmmm, I guess this isn't that hard when you really get down to it and think about every single possibility that has happened in your life.

I guess forgiveness is important in life.  Without forgiveness you harbour a grudge.  It makes you bitter.  It means that you don't grow as a person and you don't learn from your mistakes.

So I forgive myself and hope that I learn from my mistakes and that I'm not stupid enough to make them again.  If I do, I give you permission to beat me.  OR just take away the chocolate cake.

Forgive yourself. or. just eat cake.

How to Make

the most delicious Potato Dauphinoise

What You Need

4 large potatoes
800ml double cream
4 cloves of garlic
1 teaspoon of dijon mustard
salt and pepper
nutmeg

What You Do

Pour the double cream into a small saucepan with the 4 cloves of garlic, a teaspoon of dijon mustard and the salt and pepper.  Heat gently.
Slice the potatoes into thin slices, leaving the skins on. (make sure you give them a good wash first!)
Bring the cream mixture to a boil and then allow to simmer gently for 10 minutes.  Remove from the heat, and remove the cloves of garlic.
Take the garlic and mash it, and then return it to the pan and stir the mixture well.
Pour some cream on to the first layer of potato, and then add another layer of potato and cream, until all the potato and cream has been used up.
Grate nutmeg over the top of the dish, and cook in an oven for 45-50 minutes on GasMark 6 or 180C.

Allow to stand for 10 minutes before serving with a meat of your choice and some green veggies!

sorry there is not picture for this one!

Day 2 → Something you love about yourself.

Believe it or not, this is so much harder to write about then Day 1.  Something I love about myself. hmmmmmm.
Now we all use the word LOVE, about pretty much everything.
  • i LOVE this song
  • i LOVE that perfume you are wearing
  • oh my god i LOVE that movie
  • i absolutley LOVE what you've done with your hair
  • i LOVE friends (or insert other TV programme here), it's my favourite TV show
  • he/she is so fabulous and i LOVE him/her
etc etc etc etc - you see what I mean?

What is love?  Well according to Wikipedia - Love is the emotion of strong affection and personal attachment. In philosophical context, love is a virtue, kindness, compassion, and affection. In religious context, love is not just a virtue, but the basis for all being, and the foundation for all divine law representing all of human.  The word love can refer to a variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes, ranging from generic pleasure, interpersonal attraction. "Love" can also refer specifically to the passionate desire and intimacy of romantic love, to the emotional closeness of familial platonic love that defines friendship, to the profound oneness or devotion of religious love.  This diversity of uses and meanings, combined with the complexity of the feelings involved, makes love unusually difficult to consistently define, even compared to other emotional states.

The dictionary defines love as, well go see for yourself by clicking here.  Its a long list.

In light of all of this, I am totally going to cheat now.  Instead of picking just one thing that I love about myself, I'm going to list a few things.

Here goes
  • i love that i love cooking and making yummy things.  i LOVE cooking, which leads on to eating. NOM.
  • i love my boobs.  even if i do say so myself, i have a GREAT rack.
  • i love my personality.  it's not to everyones tastes, but i love it.
  • i love that i know when to be selfish and when to throw everything to one side to help a friend out.
  • i love that i'm married, to a wonderul man who adores me.
I could list hundreds of things, but I won't.
So there you have it.  Stuff I love about myself.  In a nutshell.

Day 1 → Something you hate about yourself.

Day 1 - Something I hate about myself.

This is pretty hard to make an absolute decision on.  Cause there are loads of things that I don't really like about myself.  And I know it's not about what you don't like, but it's hard to come up with something I hate.

As a woman, you'd expect me to stick to the "regulars" such as I hate my bum, I hate my boobs, I hate my hair etc etc.  But in all honesty I don't really hate any of my physical feautres.

If I have to pick something, then I'm going to pick my inability to say NO to people.  I have this issue with trying to please people, so normally when someone asks me to do something for them, the word NO isn't usually in my vocabulary.

I am however getting better at saying NO, even if after I do, I feel really bad.

I will get there.
